City Human Resources Director
Job Description: The primary focus of the city of Auburn Human Resources Department is to help the organization succeed in providing high-quality, cost-effective services to the citizens of Auburn. Reporting to the city manager, the human resources director is responsible for supporting departments in their human capital needs to help ensure the city provides excellent customer service to its citizens and maintains a high-performing work culture. The HR director develops and implements forward-thinking, innovative solutions to organization-wide issues that improve workplace culture and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
The city of Auburn seeks an innovative, visionary, experienced leader as its next human resources director. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, plus at least five-to-eight years of related experience. A master’s degree is preferred. Local government experience and supervisory experience are preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Candidates must possess the Society of Human Resources Certified Professional Designation or the International Public Management Association of HR Senior Certified Professional Designation (or be able to obtain one of these designations within one year). A valid driver’s license is required.
The next HR Director must establish residence within the corporate boundaries of the city of Auburn within six months of employment and, thereafter, must maintain residence within the corporate boundaries of the City.
