These training sessions have been approved for a total of 10 core curriculum, basic, advanced or emeritus credit hours in the CMO program. Any municipal employee may register, but only elected officials will be awarded credit hours in the CMO program. Credit hours are not awarded for duplicate training in the core curriculum. Municipal officials must successfully submit the online credit form following the event in order to receive proper credit hours for attending. For additional information on the CMO program, click here.
Please note that as of January 1, 2025, in accordance with Alabama Act 2024-194, ALL mayors and councilmembers MUST complete 10 hours of training annually for a total of 40 hours during their first term in office. Of the 40 hours required in their first term (10 annually) 20 hours must be core curriculum. Each mayor and councilmember who has successfully completed and received their basic Certified Municipal Official (CMO) certification (40 hours) from the Alabama League of Municipalities is exempt from the 10-hour annual requirement. However, they still must complete five hours of training annually. Learn more here.
